There are two things I liked about this film.
Firstly, it is timely. There is a generation of young men out there whose entire sexual education has consisted of the distorted version pornographic films have shown them. So much so some of these young men have rude awakenings when they discover all women aren't into anal sex. Life ain't like the movies after all.
I'd like to see a serious film on the implications of this phenomena, but Don Jon isn't that film.
The other thing I really liked was the scene where Jon equates Barbara's fondness for romantic movies with his own fondness for pornographic movies. And he's right: fantasy is fantasy.
