Review of Domino (1973) by Nikolaj Z — 10 Jul 2009
"All you need for a movie is a girl and a gun." - Jean-Luc Godard.
I wish this movie was more about Mickey Rourke's character; but it's still a fun movie. There are a few things about the film that keep me from really enjoying it: Keira Knightley pretending to be tough, not enough Chris Walken, etc.
"Now, if 2 Live Crew has taught us anything...".
"When a film is more conducive to a scholarly dissection than a consumerist examination, the film is incredibly clever, pragmatic, or pretentious. In the case of 'Domino,' it's all of the above. . . parts of 'Domino' work because they are receptive to a critical discourse typical of dissertations, which leaves a peculiar taste in my head. I might still want to be an actress like Ms. Knightley so I could live a low life, be nasty, and never go to jail, but I certainly don't want to watch a film for pleasure and then think about it as if it were an exercise in the application of feminist theory." - Stina Chyn (Film Threat).
"We all get weak over women. Fuckin' broads are all nuts.
They know how to kill us.".
