Review of Domino (1973) by Melanie-Ann D — 28 Dec 2010
Domino is just AWFUL! With the worst script, director and leading actress in history it plumbs the depths of badness. It's right down there with "Showgirls". The character of Domino Harvey is never explored, and she was a real person.
The movie could have been so much better. In the hands of a decent scriptwriter, restrained directing and a decent actress it could have been interesting. As it is, the script veers between laughable and awful, the direction overblown and over the top and Keira Knightley wears just one expression throughout the movie.
Miss Knightley really needs to go back to acting school before taking any more roles where she has to stretch herself. Yes, she's pretty but that's not enough to secure lead roles. When you think of decent actresses working today that don't get good material (Chloe Sevigny, Sarah Polley, etc) it's ludicrous that Keira gets to work with the people she has.
Tragic.
