Review of Domestic Disturbance (2001) by Donna T — 08 Feb 2007
Why this is an effective film? Domestic Disturbance touches on something that can actually happen to someone in reality. Perhaps added intensity for the screen but such a subject did not go overexaggerated in this case.
It was effective and thrilling at many points. John Travolta and Vince Vaughn proved effective as they usually are. Travolta did his part as the concerned, and eventually obsessed father who wants justice for his family and Vince Vaughn as the twisted step father of Travolta's child.
They gave the movie the necessary sparks it required. The movie started off good, but it crammed it all in way too quickly. Personally, I think it would have been alot better if the movie gave you a little more depth towards Vaughn's character.
It gave you what you needed to know and why he's the man that he is but it rushed through it too quickly. The movie itself is a little quick and I could see as to why this could happen to get the excitement and adrenaline rolling but there calls a time at various points in this movie for "necessary drama" in order to get the full sip.
Very predictable as well, and cliche in terms of suspense. But nevertheless Domestic Disturbance is thoroughly engrossing and gets the job done for what it's worth.
