Review of Dolphin Tale (2011) by Chris P — 23 Jan 2012
If there's ever been a movie that's been more emotionally gripping - where I am either cheering or crying at what seems like every single moment - this movie is it. I didn't get the opportunity to see this movie in theaters, but I immediately bought the DVD when it came out and I must say with 100% intensity that this is a movie that I will NEVER, EVER tire of seeing - and I don't say that about very many movies.
The story is without a doubt memorable because it's based on a true one, and whether or not you know Winter's story, it's compelling and just grips you. But it's not just Winter alone - she impacts almost every single human you encounter in some way, especially Sawyer, who's life does a complete 360 (which is similar to another dolphin movie, Eye of the Dolphin, where Carly Schroeder's character does the same thing).
Everything connects in a smooth way, every moment is captivating, uplifting...there's honestly not one bad thing I can say about this film. "Dolphin Tale" left me swimming for more and with a sense of overwhelming emotion - and I really can't describe what the emotion was - joy, happiness, peace, breathtaking.
Who knows. Maybe it's all that rolled into one big ball. Because THAT is how this movie will leave you feeling. Like you just want to reach out and touch Winter, or give her a hug, or tell her that everything's going to be okay.
THIS IS A FILM YOU CONNECT WITH. I can't say it any other way except "Dolphin Tale" is a high-flying masterpiece.
