Review of Dolphin Tale (2011) by Bonnie P — 07 Dec 2012
We thought it was a lovely heartwarming movie! The dialogue was fun, and family friendly, in fact, we were thrilled with the stories portrayal of difficulty that special needs kids and their families have with standardized public education system. We were enchanted by the beautiful relationship which developed between Winter and the young boy who saves her! We took our 2 children to see it and despite the diversity between their ages, (16 and 9 at the time,) their gender, (girl and boy,) and the fact that the youngest has Autism, they both loved the movie! We were all in tears by the end and my son still asked me if we could go to Winter's website and if we could purchase the film when it came out. Usually if a movie brings him to tears he never wants to see it again! His wanting to see this one again only served to confirm my already firm belief that this was one of the best films we had seen all year!
When we go to a film, there is a certain willing suspension of disbelief that we are prepared to use, with this movie it was not needed. Keeping in mind the true nature of the underlining story, we were doubly pleased with the lack of supercilIous Hollywood fluff! Well done WB!
