"Dolphin Tale 2" is a paint-by-numbers exercise in sentimentality. At the very core of the movie is a heavy-handed message to find the dolphins and everything associated with them adorable, and the movie did indeed succeed in tugging at my heartstrings, however predictable it may have been.
It is a movie that wants you to feel good inside and no matter how much you try to resist, it ends up doing just that. I did have some slight issues with the believability of the acting as well as the fact that Morgan Freeman seemed to have no place in this movie.
Despite some of the cookie-cutter, predictable elements to the movie, the heavy-handed message, and the movie's over-inflated sense of purpose, it was very enjoyable dolphin porn. Its hypnotic effect worked on many levels and generated the fervor and emotional response it was seeking to.
I applaud such a derivative movie for bringing me to the verge of tears ----------------------------------------------- B.
