Review of Dolphin Tale 2 (2014) by Kevin P — 11 Apr 2015
While more emotionally based than science based (for better or worse) with less Morgan Freeman and more forced comic relief pelican, I as an animal lover still got a kick out of any of the scenes involving the marine animal members of the cast (which for the most part were actual animals as a relief to my initial cgi fest fears).
While not spectacular (aside from the almighty Morgan Freeman), the cast nevertheless does their job well enough to buy their conflict. And while the main two kids can get a bit selfish at times when seeming to WANT another injured dolphin coming in just so Winter won't go to another facility or their bossy demands to be "taken more seriously", this is made up by the main kid taking the big offer to go to the big-name dolphin class as well as the lack of any forced villain.
Overall while this isn't as good as the first one, I'd still rather watch a single stalk of corny like this rather than a full-on corn harvest among the likes of "Free Willy" franchise or "Zeus & Roxanne".
