Review of Dolores Claiborne (1995) by Justin And Denise S — 21 Nov 2007
I made a mistake neglecting this movie before because of its unattractive dvd cover, alas, when I finally watched it I found myself captivated by the story which was rich in both suspense and beauty, another masterpiece adapted from Stephen King's novel!
Most movies more or less have flaws in their plots, but this one had its present event and past memories interwoven naturally and smoothly,so when I watched the movie I just felt that the directer seemed to know exactly what I expected to see according to a logical sequences of event, but I'm not saying that it was being predictable, but how the story developed towards an expected general direction yet with the secret details kept intriguingly suspenseful.
Now comes to the story,it was simply about a young woman finding understanding and forgiveness in her alienated mother. However, with all the unsolved family past as well as vivid description and profound exploration of the characters, especially Dolores who is one of my favourite mothers on screen, the story became alive and heartfelt.Dolores was so admirable with Kathy's outstanding performance of an Oscar Best Actress.
Highly recommended this movie, and if you're a dvd watcher like me rather than a movie goer take my advise ,don't judge a movie by its cover:).
