Review of Dolan's Cadillac (2009) by Telmo C — 03 Mar 2010
Based on a Stephen King's short story, this is a revenge movie where you'll choke on the popcorn. It's brutal. We enjoy watching bad guys die but the implausible scenes between the villain and hero feels like S&M gone awry. You'll need a shower after watching this one.
Slater is so evil, shooting people indiscriminately, dealing in human trafficking, and the sex trade. Bentley's wife is a witness to his crime so is killed. Timid Bentley tries to get revenge ("Why doesn't he just shoot Slater?) but has second thoughts so we can have a longer movie. Slater is over-the-top and really reminds us of Jack Nicholson's joker villain (from "Batman") but provides the energy and main interest in this movie. I liked the irony of his impenetrable cadillac being his coffin in the end.
I recommend this as a Saturday night dvd rental but don't say I didn't warn you about the violence.
