Review of Dogville (2003) by Lucas S — 21 Aug 2010
A relentless, difficult, and totally original piece of brilliance, Dogville's expert use of irony and deception allows for the most polarizing, profound musings on themes like isolation, forgiveness, and the idea of America itself.
Even to call it an epic is a work of great irony: for all its three hours and great themes, Dogville's sparse design lets the viewer fill in the blanks, tangibly and morally. Literate and profound, and very hard to watch.
