Review of Dogville (2003) by Dana W — 09 Jun 2012
Dogville is a small town on a soundstage. Houses are marked by chalk, and there are no walls. The dog that's barking is nothing more than a chalk drawing. And it's in this kind of "stripped-down" environment that an actor can really flourish.
It takes a while to adjust to what you're seeing, but once Kidman arrives and the story gets going, it holds your attention right up to the intense ending.
