Review of Dogtooth (2009) by Greg M — 18 Dec 2011
A film with several cringeworthy scenes, of an uncomfortable and visceral nature. Wonderfully disturbing performances, and an interestingly bizarre plot work for it, though the open-ended finish is dissatisfying after hoping to hear the reasoning behind the father's.
Brutality and manipulation. Based purely on a single viewing experience, and divorcing it from its intended or perceived symbolism, Dogtooth provokes without offering explanation.
