I knew nothing about the film apart from its Oscar nomination not sure if POSSIBLE SPOILERS knowing that it is about a couple who keep their three grown children prisoner would help. I think my mystification at what was happening helped to enhance the feeling of strangeness about this decidedly dysfunctional family and the way they all behaved.
Not recommended viewing for a family evening with your granny and young children, but intriguing viewing which will make viewers think.
