Fascinating, perverted, offensive, thought-provoking, hilarious...this film is quite an experience. With such innovative story-telling, Lanthimos is able to create a whirlwind of effects from this simple story of parents completely isolating their children which calls to mind how we can each shape the earth, how society molds children and young adults, how parents have such odd expectations that children are destined to meet, nature vs.
nurture, it is just fascinating. Also how the Greeks get away with this stuff and not get rated, like X, is bizarre. The whole movie is bizarre and I devoured it. The acting is spare, but thats the point, its so lifeless and soulless but has so much energy and intrigue, it is hard to classify what this film is.
All I really know is that this is a triumph of artistic vision, and definitely shows the strength of filmmaking talents from all sides of the world. B+.
