So odd, your brain can't quite reconcile what it is seeing. A week later, and this film is still there when I close my eyes. I read it as a great anti religious tract - a father runs his household with control, self regulated totalitarity and unflinching self belief.

The framing and storytelling are as unconventional as the plot - motives are left untold, plot points left hanging and there is a refusal to provide any closure. Chillingly brilliant.
