Review of Dogma (1999) by Gary C — 01 Jul 2010
It's an interesting look at religion. You can't say it's not. It pokes fun at all the things that need to be poked fun at, and brings up some interesting topics.
I mostly like how they took religious ideas and made their own story out of it. The story is what made this a very interesting fantasy movie.
The scenes in this movie that you could call "action" scenes actually had very little going on. A lot of action movies will try to show an overwhelming amount of stuff happening. But this film keeps it simple and it works much better. The physical struggles are simple and easier to relate to, which heightens the anticipation. (I'm specifically referring to the train scene).
This movie had an interesting concept and I think it was pulled off pretty well.
