Review of Dogma (1999) by Adam W — 08 May 2010
Rewatched this and man, is it painful.
Amateur in every single department:
Direction - lifeless.
Editing - clunky'.
Script: showy & unnatural.
Acting - abysmal.
Linda Fiorentino gives one of the most facesmackingly appalling performances I care to think of, everyone else just stands around mugging and pulling embarrassingly bad reaction shots whilst someone delivers yet another "look at me, aren't I clever" monologue.
No one is good in it, Rickman, Damon & Affleck aren't bad.
I can't believe how much I liked this when I first saw it and what an utter turd I now see it as?
