Review of Dogma (1999) by Russell G — 17 Dec 2011
It is controversial comedy that was very insightful and smart but is not too stuck up or proud to make fart jokes. The movie is not anti-religious at all, in fact it challenges one to question their religion and get in touch with what is really important, which is healthy.
This cast was really amazing and elevated the clever script to the comedic gold that it is. Ben Affleck and Matt Damon have great chemistry as the rebellious rejected angels. Chris Rock, Jason Lee, Alan Rickman, Salma Hayek, Linda Fiorentino, a healthy dose of cameos and of course Jay & Silent Bob make for a movie full of great characters that offer lots of jokes from different angles.
Every scene is full of great characters, memorable lines, and plenty of laughs. Dogma is Director Kevin Smithâ(TM)s best movie and one of my all-time favorites too.
