Oh it's total shit, but I mutely applaude the fact that it feels like it was actually made by a filmmaker, which can't be said for very many movies today. But yeah, watching William Dafoe as a child pornography-obsessed asshole is just wrong and not what this movie needed.

I'm fine with contemptible characters in the lead, but someone like this is just disgusting and hard to watch. It survives because of the great Paul Schrader's acceptable direction, but the script is absolutely awful.

Let Paul write scripts again! Did nobody see Raging Bull, Taxi Driver, Blue Collar, or Hardcore? Give this man free reign and he'll do some non-perverted good with it!
