Review of Dog Day Afternoon (1975) by Hassan I — 27 Oct 2011
Sidney Lumet's Dog Day Afternoon is a film about a simple robbery gone all wrong. Lumet's direction is fantastic with striking close-up shots and the characters are very well-developed. Al Pacino's stunning performance carries the film very well.
The rest of the cast including John Cazale and Charles Durning is also terrific. The film is a tad bit long for it's subject matter and drags in parts, but otherwise, Dog Day Afternoon is a realistically well-constructed film that features one of Al Pacino's best performances combined with the flawless style of Sidney Lumet.
