Review of Dog Day Afternoon (1975) by Ethan T — 05 Sep 2012
One of the most amazing movies of all time! Dog Day Afternoon is spectacular in every way! It's my first Al Pacino movie! I'm too young for most of them, shut up. Al Pacino did great, absolutely perfect, in every way, I loved his accent too! The movie has a great plot, Al Pacino's character and his friend rob a bank, Al Pacino's character, Sonny, wants it for his gay lovers sex change, you know, turning his lover into a woman.
.. Point is the movie's still amazing. It's one of those movies that I could watch a billion times. Absolutely brilliant! The way all the hostages are all having' fun and enjoying themselves while Sonny and his friend are holding them 'hostage', yeah, they don't want to hurt any of the hostages, and they don't, they treat them very nice, they aren't really criminals, just people that sadly need a lot of money, and that is makes you feel for them and feel bad, they don't mean bad, but they need money, and that made me feel like it was realistic.
And I LOVED the way all the towns people agreed with Sonny. The movie itself felt very real, I could imagine watching the news and seeing Al Pacino holding hostages, except the hostages weren't being tortured, they were having a decent time! AMAZING movie, words cannot express how great it is, highly recommend!!!!!
