Review of Dog Day Afternoon (1975) by Samson D — 05 Dec 2011
A bravura performance from Al Pacino, arguably one of his very best, and one of the best bank robbery films. Pacino embodies the anger and disillusionment of an entire generation with often frightening intensity.
Sidney Lumet is a great American director, and along with Serpico from 1973, Lumet and Pacino have created a classic and quintessential 70's film that provides a perfect snapshot of the era. Dog Day Afternoon is also probably one of the angriest films to come out of this time.
captivating from the first frame to the last.
