Director Sidney Lumet is at his best with Dog Day Afternoon. How he creates such tension and human drama in a small environment, whether it be a bank or a juryroom, Lumet knows exactly what he wants and gets it from his actors.
People love Pacino's work in Godfather and Scarface but I think this might be his best. John Cazale gives a depressing and strong performance as well. The film is about morality and the media circus.
Its one of my favorites.
