Review of Dog Day Afternoon (1975) by Bheema D — 21 Feb 2015
(77%).
One of the better bank robbery crime movies featuring Al Pacino in unstoppable form as the stressed-out thief with somewhat different intentions than the regular hold-up guy. The basic premise of bank robbery is a text book big Hollywood staple, and this looks and feels like a big Hollywood film; but it also has something extra that most movies of this type don't, which is that this actually happened, so there's a distinct element of realism running right the way through the entire film. It takes not very long at all to realise that Pacino and John Cazale aren't going to pull off the heist successfully, but this is still an engrossing watch that's well worth tracking down.
