Review of DodgeBall: A True Underdog Story (2004) by London J — 27 Sep 2012
Ben Stiller gives one of his broadest and best performances to date, and the jokes ping around the screen as fast as the balls on the court. This masterpiece of modern cinema depends upon a single truism: A guy getting hit in the nuts a hundred times in a row is funny a hundred times.
This is really a crude, daft and hilarious, Dodgeball is the best mainstream American comedy in years. Films like this that takes an underrated sport to make it one of the best sport comedies is rare feat.
Vince Vaughn is dead panly perfect as the "Hero" but of course Ben Stiller steals the scenes and a simple, easy, great special guest appearance by Chuck Norris. The whole cast are all unique in their own way.
Great storyline, really funny and a film to chill and relax too. It's only problem is it's too predictable but you won't care about that. Jokes do get slightly repetitive, some are a miss but the rest is brilliantly smart and silly.
Sometimes, the simple films are the best.
