Review of Doctor Who: The Day of the Doctor (2013) by Nolan W — 19 Jul 2014
Such nostalgia, I've only been a fan of this since 2010, but seeing the incarnation that answered the question raised in the days of Christopher Eccleston, "what happened in the Time War that filled the Doctor with such astronomical levels of survivor's remorse?" For 8 years this question finally was answered by the show's writer Steve Moffat who brilliantly pieced together a fitting farewell to the eighth incarnation of the Doctor played by Paul McGann, introduced the War Doctor played by John Hurt, and teamed up the Tenth and Eleventh Doctors played by David Tennant and Matt Smith, while bringing in the answers of the Elizabeth I question raised at the end of The Shakespeare Code.
The appearance of one of the Classic Doctor Who cast members in the final sequence of the feature made me freeze in a reaction similar to receiving a TARDIS key on Christmas Morning, and I wanted to scream in delight.
The adventure itself is filled with the quirkiness of two easily recognized Doctors and the addition of the War Doctor and humor that will fill the hearts of Whovians with guaranteed timeless satisfaction that will transcend the confines of time and space as we know it.
This Whovian gives The Day of the Doctor a well deserved 5/5.
