Review of Doctor Who (1996) by Matt W — 08 May 2012
The film's heart is in the right place but the story just doesn't feel right, even with old Who story standards. Paul McGann is an interesting choice as the Doctor and Eric Roberts is excellent for the Master but I'm still not over joyed.
Feeling like nothing more than a slightly extended episode I don't think 20th Century Fox understood that the film should have been 1) longer and 2) the story should have been tweeked a lot 3) been the lead in for the series to hit it off again.
At least they had Sylvester McCoy return as the 7th Doctor but that doesn't do enough for the film.
