Review of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (2022) by Igor_1311 — 06 May 2022

I feel like this movie focused more on cameos and fan service than it did on good writing. It sort of gave me the vibe of watching pre-MCU superhero movies from the mid-2000's, back when they were noticeably cheesier.

That being said it's still a fun and visually-stunning movie. Doctor Strange is great. It's nice to see more of his relationship with Christine. America Chavez is sort of a meh 5/10 character who seems better suited for a MCU TV show as opposed to a main feature movie.

Ever since Endgame it feels like every movie - even standalone ones like Doctor Strange or Shang-Chi - have to involve some huge Avengers-level threat. I feel this is unnecessary, especially considering some of the best MCU movies (Captain America: Winter Solider) were much "smaller" movies. If every movie involves some colossal universe-level threat, then it won't feel that special when you try to assemble the Avengers again in the future. Why even assemble them at all? This is the 12th time the universe has been threatened just this year alone.
