Review of Doctor Strange (2016) by Ben B — 21 May 2018

Doctor Strange was a very unique superhero movie with stunning visuals and a great lead performance from Benedict. The movie is about a Doctor called Doctor Stephen Strange who only likes being called Doctor Stephen Strange, he won't tolerate anything else not even Mister Strange, but one day he is playing with his little built in phone device on his car but he wasn't looking at the road and falls down a narrow cliff.

This was a strong scene that was a little graphic but sent out a good message, don't get distracted when driving. We then find out that his hands are paralyzed and that he can't do the job he basically lives for.

As the movie progresses, it feels like the directors forget that his hands were paralyzed and he was using his hands like normal. This took away the plot for a few moments. This Marvel movie is one of the only Marvel movies where choosing story over action was the better chose but the action sequences were still pretty good and were saved by the astounding CGI.

The post credits scene featured an avenger named Thor who was speaking to Doctor Strange, this scene was later used in the 2017 film Thor Ragnarok and this scene was a very neat way to promote a movie that would later change the MCU.

Another thing I really liked about this movie is that no other superhero movie is like it and that made the film better. Doctor Strange is a different marvel movie with a concept and story that is unique that also feature unique twists and animation.

This is definitely one of the best Marvel origin story's and is a great way to introduce a hero to the cinematic universe. Grade B+ - Rating 8/10.
