Review of DOA: Dead or Alive (2006) by David C — 22 May 2009
I have mixed feelings about this movie. First, most video game adapted movies just don't make it. And then, a select few surprise the critics. DOA is totally aimed at the male demographic. In some cases, that's okay.
This movie does use strong visual effects to capture some clean and sleek fighting scenes. And it does come with some fun sound effects. Then on the flip side, this movie ripped off scenes from Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat, Charlie's Angels, The Matrix, and Crouching Tiger.
The plot and storyline has no depth. It's just a video game fighting movie with lots of half naked women and a few good laughs.
