Review of DOA: Dead or Alive (2006) by Perrine M — 05 Mar 2010
If you like fighting girls with cheesecake shots (no nudity), pretty good fight sequences and can check your brain at the door than you might actually enjoy this. I thought it was just another "Mortal Kombat" movie where the girl goes to an island to fight in the same contest that her "dead" brother participated in and battle royale ensues. Well, it's that plus a hare-brained scheme only found in the crappiest of B-movie sci-fi films.
What saved the movie for me was the action. Lots of nice choreographed fights with great stunts and minimal CGI...though there are the typical martial art wires used.
