Review of Do You Believe? (2015) by Derrick C — 25 Mar 2015
It's interesting to observe the obvious split in review scores between those who self-identify with the Christian worldview, and those who don't. Full disclosure, I self-identify as a Christian, so bare that in mind in evaluating my 5 star rating.
Personally I found this film to be quite strong in every area that I'd rate a movie: strong acting, strong writing, strong underlying message. Sure, it is a "preachy movie", but if that is what you're expecting going into it, as I was expecting, it's yet another strength of this film.
If the topic of faith, and what it means, both to the faithful and those who don't "get it", interests you, a viewing this film would make a great starting point for conversations around faith.
Also, I thought this was a significantly better overall "movie" than God's Not Dead, which was best viewed more as a "pseudo-documentary" than as a "movie". I won't get into the storylines too much, as I prefer to avoid spoilers, but here's my summary,"12 people meet at the foot of the cross, and none of their lives will ever be the same again.
