Review of Do the Right Thing (1997) by Rory D — 12 Jul 2009
Lee doesn't really take a side, which we really only realize as the film closes with the qoutes from MLK and Malcom X. With vivid camera work, color, and great performances from the cast, two hours of one day in a Brooklynn street with no plot keeps our eyes glue to the screen.
A sad, yet humorus look at race and the bigotry inside of us all that can come out if we're not careful. A bold film, bold in its art, it's statements, it's craft. One of Lee's best.
