Review of Do the Right Thing (1997) by Conner R — 16 May 2011
Spike Lee has made a living (and a reputation) of blurring racial lines with aggressive approaches , but this is by far his most effective work in doing so. Though the beginning drags and the end goes a scene too far, the crisis developed was as powerful of a microcosm for misunderstood hate as I have ever seen.
It's a much more colorful La Haine (and I loved La Haine), and doesn't sugar coat or even judge the racial tension that overlaps individuals, co-workers, neighborhoods, and societies.
