God, how I loathe this movie. Nowhere in this movie do I find someone who is endearing, affable, or respectable. Everyone is so engulfed by their racial views and provinicialism. The blacks are all lazy and think the world should revolve around them and think that the world should wait up for them or give them everything and anything. The Italians are a bunch of dogmatical segregationists. For some reason, my university makes us watch this film in every film class I attend. It's not that great of a movie and yet they always treat it like, "We should understand the blacks' situation in this movie." Umm... how can I understand people whom just walk their neighborhoods and or just sit outside doing nothing, complaining about how they want a job? GO GET ONE!

It's not even that great of a film to begin with. It jumps around from documentary-style to cinematic-style. And Spike Lee copies a whole bit from "Night of the Hunter." All in all I know alot of people adore this movie and think it's a classic but I find it to be too much propagandist--- there's quotes from Malcolm X and Louis Farrakhan in this. Anyone who thinks of those two men as icons or their heroes is messed up.
