"It's the hottest day of the summer. You can do nothing, you can do something, or you can...".

The movie is famous for its dramatic impact on racial tension and will globally speak out to people who have been involved within race-related issues, specifically those who are within an inner-city African American community. Spike Lee's controversial, but grotesquely masterful drama is a film where all the hype is not directly related to the opponents character, but is from within the inner-self of one's being (meaning the Italian Pizzeria is not directing their inner hype on the blacks of the community, but is directed from within themselves) The Pizzeria and a small group of black individuals start off on just the slightest of their anger towards one another, but it slowly and violently turns into an all out rampage where there are not only injuries and broken-up pieces of property, but there is also death which haunts one of the movie characters. It's altogether a darkly funny, but shockingly piece of race-culture phenomenon that is to be cherished in both the film-community and race issue community.
