Spike Lee might send mixed signals racially outside the theater, but indoors, he's done a lot of good for race relations in America. Do The Right Thing is quite possibly the most fully realized film ever made about racism, sexism and social boundaries.
It doesn't have all the answers...and that's precisely why it works so well.
