Review of Do the Right Thing (1997) by Thomas C — 25 May 2013
Seeing this again 24 years after its release was very interesting. it still is relevant. Though Spike Lee is somewhat didactic, he leaves out preachiness and reveals the faults and inconsistencies inside all of the characters, and lets us draw our own conclusions.
Set on a single street in Brooklyn it feels like a play with characters weaving in and out tying the story together leading to the fiery climax. This was such a groundbreaking film.
