Review of Do the Right Thing (1989) by Saeed R — 13 May 2014
This movie was so ahead of its time, or maybe it was so perfect for its time but was a story that no one wanted to tell. Spike Lee does a great job depicting race relations of the late 80's/early 90's.
As a person who grew up in New York almost every character was relatable and reminded me of someone I knew growing up. If a teenager today in 2014 watched this film, they might not be able to appreciate it because some dynamics of American/New York society have changed, but the overall theme of the film is still very real.
A top 3 Spike Joint for me.
