Review of Django Unchained (2012) by Joëlle L — 23 Apr 2015
Short and sweet. Tarantino haas an amazing ability to make movies with characters that are some of the most contradicting people. This is one of them, and in my opinion, his best. If you understand and comprehend how many stereotypes he throws into the flames due to this ability, you will appreciate this movie.
Otherwise, you won't like it. Don't look at is as a film to be criticized based on artistic value (which is subjective), look at is a film that tries its best to throw every preconceived notion you have (wrong or not) into the fire.
If you can appreciate the surprise, then its a fantastic film and incredibly enjoyable.
