Review of Django Unchained (2012) by King K — 02 Oct 2015
I must admit, the best thing about this movie is Di Caprio's and Waltz's performances, because man, they are good. Don't get me wrong, Foxx's acting is great too, but Tarantino didn't give him as many lines as the other two.
Now, be careful because it presents slavery in a very truthful and honest way, so I'd say that the shooting scenes aren't as heavy as this movie's depiction of how african-americans were treated back then.
The bad thing about this movie, though, is that it feels like Tarantino tried too hard in it. It's an epic movie, but it seemed like its serious scenes didn't combine well with its comical ones. Sometimes, actually, it felt as if I was watching a cartoon, rather than a drama movie. Also, *spoiler alert*, the ending scene is pretty dumb and the actresses in this movie are given as much significance as the horses.
All in all, if you like epic movies told in a traditional way, this is the movie for you.
