Review of Django Unchained (2012) by Connor L — 22 Dec 2015
As I've said to many of my friends in the past... Tarantino's movies are definitely becoming more theatrical. This isn't a criticism and merely an observation I've made. I have to say that I wasn't expecting much from this movie at all.
The trailers did not have me interested and even more made me cringe. I unfortunately have never seen a Tarantino film in cinemas and this movie is unluckily no exception. My dad managed to find a good quality copy and watched it.
I was pleasantly surprised. This movie definitely does use the many tricks and elements of past Tarantino films but that isn't any fault and somehow creates a universe of wit and danger. Now while the N word may be said more excessively than it was more than likely said in that day and while the last quarter may drag a bit.
This movie is certainly uplifted by very compelling characters and performances, snappy dialogue, drawn-out violence and catchy music. Another Tarantino classic indeed.
