"You can't destroy candy land...we been here and we always gonna be here." Other than the Kill Bill films, Django is arguably Tarantino's most viscerally fun film. Yes, it's brutal in content, but it's also hilarious, bursting with shockingly ridiculous violence against the slave-owners to counteract the much more grounded authenticity of the violence against slaves.

The performances are all perfect, with Jackson giving one of his (or anyone's) best of all time. Even while being a bit shallow and less tightly structured than his recent works, it's still a wonderful cinematic trip.
