Review of Django (1966) by Adam B — 03 Jun 2008
Django is a brutal spaghetti western that centers on a drifter who, after despatching numerous baditos, drags a mysterious coffin into town. The coffin, as we later find out, contains a machine gun. Django spends the film wasting literally hundreds of men with the aforementioned weapon.
Blatantly a 'man with no name' rip-off, but Django goes further than those Eastwood films allowed. One scene inparticular has a mans ear sliced off and then he is fed it before being shot. Eat your heart out Reservoir Dogs!
Fore sheer brutality and immense carnage, Django gets a bonus star.
