Review of Django (1966) by Christopher S — 26 Sep 2008
Entertaining Spaghetti Western has some great moments, but is a bit overrated. Memorable for its grim imagery and graphic violence, but it's too slow-paced and conventional to stand up to Sergio Leone's more accomplished epics.
Franco Nero has a great presence as the hardboiled hero, and director Sergio Corbucci brings a unique visual sense. Luis Bacalov's score is effective, but no Morricone.
