Review of Django (1966) by Keith T — 08 Nov 2008
I was reminded to re-watch this by the new Oasis video for "I'm Outta Time". Several people have commented Liam looks like Clint Eastwood in it, but I reckon the more accurate homage is to Django.
Django IS an entertaining film, with a fine performance from Franco Nero in the title role and some memorable scenes (the coffin, the machine gun, the henchmen with the red kerchiefs and masks and the graveyard), but it isn't put together as well as Leone's "Dollar" trilogy and it's not actually as sadistic and violent as its own sequel, "Django Kill" (which I prefer). It might have a higher bodycount though, although it's not in the Rambo class on that!
