Review of Django (1966) by Cesar A — 19 Feb 2010
Essential spaghetti Western viewing. The most memorable thing you'll take away from the film is definitely the main theme. The film itself features all the elements of of an Italian produced Western, but done much better than most; a strong, silent protagonist comes to a terrorized town but he has a secret of his own.
Some bits are rather gorey and gratuitous, one torture scene has been famously recreated in a Tarantino film. This performance made Franco Nero a star in Europe and made Django one of the most oft featured 'characters' featured in Westerns, not unlike Bond or Zatoichi.
