Review of Django (1966) by Andrew I — 19 Feb 2012
With about as much 'style over substance' as such a low-budget, badly-dubbed film can muster, the grubby, muddy, cold look and feel of this film is one of its strong points, setting it apart from 1960s Hollywood westerns and the Dollars trilogy.
The fist fights are rather oddly filmed, with the cameraman seeming to partake in the brawls. The plot is decent enough with (perish the thought!) a tiny twinge of romance and I really like the music too.
Perhaps a bit overviolent for some people's tastes, but I found it tastefully toned down. A fun Euro western.
