Review of Django (1966) by Braden J — 25 Aug 2009
Rather sadistic spaghetti western, with Franco Nero as a gunslinger who wanders into town dragging a coffin. The town is ruled over by two factions. On one side are Mexican revolutionaries ousted from their own country.
On the other are a group of southern ex-soldiers who are still fighting the civil war. It's another western making use of the Yojimbo template, and though it's not up to the standards set by Kurosawa or Leone, it's still one of the better examples of the genre.
Theme song is really cool.
